2010 Masters Report 4/8/2010, Thursday, from Augusta

April 8, 2010

Sports Marketing Company, Bryton Harry Inc., reports 2010 Masters from the event place, Augusta!

Today was quite a busy day, as the competitive round finally began. The closer it got to Tiger Woods’ tee time, which was at 1:42 p.m., the more people talked about how likely it was to rain.

In the afternoon, the rain did start, but it rained very little, and didn’t interfere with the plays at all. When Tiger Woods reached the 18th hole, the rain was falling a little harder. We spectators were comfortable in such cool weather. If the course has a thunderstorm, or if heavy rain disturbs playing on the course, Augusta National Golf Club stops the play and asks the fans to leave the course. Luckily, the heavier rain began at 9:00 p.m., after the round was completely finished.

At one point today, a private jet flew over the Augusta National Golf course, carrying a sign that referred to the Tiger Woods scandal, even though large planes are not permitted to fly over the course. The fans found it amusing.

People were impressed with Tiger’s new Nike TV commercial. You can see it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR6It4J_qiM This was broadcast on ESPN and the Golf Channel starting yesterday, which was the day before the Masters Tournament. In the commercial, Tiger Woods appears on a black and white screen, silently staring at the camera, with a sad expression. We hear the voice of his late father, Earl Woods, saying, "I am more prone to be inquisitive, to promote discussion. I want to find out what your thinking was. I want to find out what your feelings are, and did you learn anything?"

The gate opened at 7:25 this morning, before it was fully daylight. At 7:40 a.m., Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus provided the opening shots for the 74th Masters Tournament.

Tiger Woods finished with his lowest score, 68, and two eagles, as his best for the Masters first round. He played with Matt Kuchar who is popular and well-known as a “good guy” due to his kindness when Tiger Woods matched up with him and, for the first time in history, became a three-time consecutive amateur champion. The other member of the group was K.J. Choi, who is also popular for his outgoing, friendly personality with fans and with other players. The pairing would be comfortable for Tiger, who had just returned from his long absence due to his well-known scandal. A number of times, we saw Tiger enjoying a chat with Choi andKuchar.

Today’s best player was Fred Couples. He is not the type to aggressively pursue a win, or show off. His personality is such that he accepts whatever his friends dish out. He does not deny such offers because of practice. He seemed to get the Masters title in 1992 by accident. The fans love his attractive personality. His unique swing style, which involves maximally twisting his entire body, using golf clubs with his bare hands, and having no socks, was close-up. His driving distance is at best 5 even though he is 50 years old. Tom Watson, 60, a two-time Masters champion, was leading the scores for awhile, and finished in second place today. The two senior golfers had the no.1 and no. 2 scores today, which thrilled and excited fans.

Membership in the Augusta National Golf Club is very exclusive. Even extreme wealth does not automatically entitle you to membership. Membership is a legacy of family tradition over many generations, and members follow a certain gentlemanly attitude and code of etiquette. Only members can access the Club House on the course.

Unlike other major tournaments and PGA tour events such as the US Open, the Masters do not permit even sponsors to put up hospitality tents on the course. Our hospitality club, Executive Club, is the closest facility to the main gate at the Masters! Our Executive Club offers a delicious, high-quality complimentary breakfast, lunch, hors d’oeuvre, and light dinner, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Though Augusta National Golf Club invites guests from all over the world, the Club does not sell the Masters Tournament tickets, limits the number of tickets every year, and does not release information on how many tickets the club provides each year.

The price of tickets changed dramatically today. Last week, tickets were $2,600, and this morning, the price was reduced to $1,200. In the afternoon, the price was cut to $600. The market price of a ticket rose and fell as if it were the stock market. We, Bryton Harry Inc., do not purchase tickets from a ticket broker. We receive the tickets from one of the largest companies in sports, which works with Bryton Harry Inc. regarding Masters tickets, hospitality, hotel accommodations, and transportation as an exclusive partner targeting Japanese markets. Because of this, we can steadily secure the tickets.
