Watch and see what happens

The U.S. Open Tennis 2007 was distinguished by its show entertainment elements. Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, and other stars have achieved fame as both athletes and as entertainers. Those unique elements of tennis that bridge the sports and entertainment worlds set all-time tournament records at the U.S. Open 2007. According to the USTA (United States Tennis Association), the final total attendance of 715,587 far surpassed the previous all-time high of 659,538 set in 2005. Traffic to the official tournament website attracted more than 30 million visits for the first time, an 11% increase over the 2006 record. More than 75 million people watched all or some of the 2007 U.S. Open on television, which broadcast to more than 180 countries around the world. In addition, last year's U.S. Open saw the largest payout in tennis history as Roger Federer, the men's singles champion, collected $2.4 million. Concession sales also set all-time records, exceeding the previous sales records by more than 20%.

Russian fairy and 2006 women's singles champion Maria Sherapova lost early in this year's tournament, but Andy Roddick played his hard-hitting best against his nemesis Roger Federer, ultimately losing in straight sets. Meanwhile, Roger Federer went on to win his fourth straight crown, earning his 12th Grand Slam title. Aspelin-Kowle took the men's doubles title, and Mirnyi and Azarenka took the mixed doubles crown.

No. 1-ranked Justine Henin won her second U.S. Open title by devastating Svetlana Kuznetsova, 6-1 and 6-3. "Who knows what's going to happen in the next few years?" Henin asked. "When I was a little girl, I was dreaming of winning just one Grand Slam in my career, and I won seven. It's still hard to believe that I did that. All these numbers that are talking to me, that give me a lot of confidence. It's more than a dream. I gave everything for tennis for 20 years, and it's going to be like that for the next few years. I'm just going to try to enjoy my game on the court, win as many matches as possible, and stay healthy. We'll see what's going to happen."
